Our History
Welcome to the Indigenous Rights & Title Commission website. Our goal is to promote and protect the inherent rights of Indigenous Nations to govern their territories and make decisions that affect their communities. We recognize the importance of supporting Indigenous sovereignty, and we are dedicated to advocating on behalf of Nations who are under political pressure and facing challenges to their Rights & Title.
Who are we?
Our commission is made up of Indigenous leaders, community members, and allies who are committed to promoting the principles of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and supporting Indigenous self-determination. We believe that Indigenous Nations have the right to make informed decisions about their territories and resources, and we are committed to supporting their decision-making processes.
Our Focus
Rights & Title
One of our key focus areas is supporting Nations who are facing challenges to their Rights & Title as they navigate the transition processes towards closed containment fish farm systems. We understand that this is a complex issue that requires careful consideration of social, economic, and environmental factors. Our commission seeks to provide support, resources, and advocacy to Nations as they work to protect their Rights & Title and make informed decisions about their territories.
